Adam was born in Sussex and still lives and works there. On leaving school he studied graphic design at the local art college. He has over 30 years experience as a freelance illustrator. Adam also likes to paint the local nature and scenes he sees when walking in the countryside. He is married with two children.
Adam is a versatile illustrator who combines exhaustive research with skilled draughtsmanship to produce detailed reconstructions that bring history to life. Equally at home with technical and figure drawing, Adam's subjects include military history, daily life and costume, architecture and landscape, with a chronology stretching from Biblical times to the present day. He also has maintained a lifelong passion for painting natural history. He produces realistic and finely detailed work for commissions ranging from fine art and greetings cards to field guides and reference books. Adam has illustrated over 90 titles for Osprey Publishing Ltd, as well as a range of international publishers including The University of Chicago Press, Bloomsbury, Harper Collins and Larousse. His work is displayed in museums in Bermuba, Amsterdam and The Brandy Station Battlefield, Virginia.
